Cherryvale celebrates sesquicentennial

Like many of the towns that surround it, Cherryvale began its life 150 years ago. Founded on Osage Indian lands by Civil War Veterans, the town was named for its position in the valley of Cherry Creek. The first settler, Mr. Abe Eaton, sold his land to what would become the Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and was platted by the railroad in 1871.
