Governor announces toolkit to prevent domestic violence

■ Toolkit will be another valuable key for communities to help those in need Governor Kelly announced launch of a toolkit to help Kansas communities create local interdisciplinary teams to prevent intimate partner violence and support survivors. The toolkit provides communities with resources to establish teams and identify and manage cases in which someone is at high risk of either perpetrating or being victimized by intimate partner violence.

In the category of career implosions for a major American cultural figure, the downfall of Scott Adams has been especially swift and spectacular. The Northern California cartoonist’s “Dilbert” comic strip, long one of the most popular in the country and appearing in more than 2,000 newspapers at its peak, all but vanished by Monday after he called Black people “a hate group” in an incendiary diatribe on race relations in America last week.

Tenth Meadowlark Lounge to launch

In fashion with tradition, the Meadowlark Lounge has announced its tenth singer- songwriter event featuring an exciting and intimate concert-inthe- round on Saturday, March 18. The showcase will be held at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., concert begins at 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served for guests. Tickets to the Lounge are just $20 and may be purchased at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center, located at 123 North 8th Street, or over the telephone by calling 620-331-3515. If you have a museum membership, you will receive a $5 discount per member attending.
