Come walkin’ with me to the Sycamore tree That grows by the creek water bend. That kindly old tree’s such a comfort to me, And she listens just like an old friend. Her trunk leans out where we can sit like a chair As the water beneath us rolls on. We can talk as we please ‘neath the gentle green leaves Til our worries and troubles are gone. We can gaze down below where the creek water flows, See the dance of the minnows and frogs, As the whirligigs twirl and the damselflies swirl, And the turtle’s asleep on the log. Then we’ll turn up our eyes to the blue summer sky Through branches the color of cream, As the Kingfisher flies and the sweet Warbler cries In our giant umbrella of green. Come walkin with me to the Sycamore tree That grows by the creek water bend. That kindly old tree’s such a comfort to me, And she listens just like an old friend.
