Barbara Blackert, 2020 Neewollah musical director, announced audition dates for "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." Auditions will be held June 22 and 23 at Memorial Hall with callbacks on June 24. Auditions for children ages 8-15 will be June 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Adults 16 years and older will audition June 23 from 5 to 9 p.m. Registration for adults begins at 4:30 p.m. Callbacks are scheduled for June 24 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Those auditioning are asked to enter through the main doors of the Memorial Hall to the upstairs Lobby and check in. If you have sent an audition video in, you can still come to live auditions if you choose to do so, otherwise your audition video is still an official audition. Live auditions music will be provided but feel free to bring your own.

There are two main children characters to be cast and two understudies. There is a children’s choir and auditions will help determine the size of this choir. All principal roles will sing and dance. Auditions are open to children ages 8 to 15 and adults 16 and up. Possible exceptions will be on a case-by-case basis.

The cast will be posted on the Neewollah website. Dance rehearsals are planned to begin in July with additional rehearsals planned to begin in August. Generally rehearsals with large groups will be weekdays (approximately 6 to 9:30 p.m.) until closer to opening of production. Organizers plan to be mindful of young actors staying late, utilizing everyone's time effectively and efficiently, respecting the rehearsal space and having as much hard-earned fun as possible.

"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" is a musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming's children's book and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find "Truly Scrumptious."
