Donna Jo Stigall, 88, Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, Kansas with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. The family will greet visitors On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 p.m., at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church 201 S 5th St, Independence, KS 67301 or Kansas Children’s Services League 1365 N Custer St, Wichita, KS 67203 or Harry Hynes Hospice.

Donna was born September 5, 1935, in Clinton, Missouri to Morris Faulds and Jessie Elizabeth (Matson) Eakins. She moved with her family to Parsons, Kansas in 1946 where she attended school and graduated from Parsons High School in 1953. Donna was united in marriage to Jerry Stigall on September 3, 1955.

Donna was employed by Parsons Motor Company; Sinclair Refining Company, Kanss City, Missouri; Independence Community College as a math tutor and as the Treasurer for the First Presbyterian Church.

Donna also served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Board of Trustees for the First Presbyterian Church. She was a bowler for forty plus years, a member of the V.F.W. Post 1186 and the Independence County Club.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Jerry of the home; one son Christopher Stigall and partner, Tom Cali, Grapevine, Texas; one daughter, Jonna and husband Jeff Weimer, Independence; two sisters, Bobbie Campbell, Parsons and Patty Edgington, Lake Jackson, Texas. Local students named Governor's Scholars

Independence High School seniors Hadley Hines and Wyatt Small attended the 41st Annual Governor's Scholars Award Program May 5, in Topeka. The recognition ceremony honors the top academic one percent of Kansas high school seniors. Scholars are selected from accredited public and private schools across the state of Kansas. 'These high school seniors have shown dedication in their studies and a commitment to learning. They've earned this honor, and I want to congratulate them on this achievement,' Governor Laura Kelly said at the ceremony.
