Dorothy (Lanning) Brewer, age 94 of Howard, passed away at her home on April 4, 2024.

Dorothy was born August 9, 1929 to Louis and Mary Rose Iaconis in Weed, California. She attended school at Weed and graduated from Weed High School.

In 1951 in California she married Billy E. Lanning Sr. To this union were five boys: Billy E. Lanning Jr, Richard and Robert. After they moved to Howard in 1957, David and Keith were born.

Dorothy worked in several cafes, Howard Twilight Manor and at West Elk High School as a cook for 22 years. After she retired, she continued to help at the Friendship Meals, was on the Howard Library Board and volunteered at the Howard Library.

In 1974, she was divorced from Billy E. Lanning Sr. and in 1979 married Lowell Brewer. They continued to make their home in Howard.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Brewer and son Robert Lanning.

She is survived by Billy E. Lanning Jr. (Patsy) of Howard; Richard Lanning (Janice) of Liberal; daughter- in-law Kim Lanning of Eudora; David Lanning (Cathy) of Cherryvale and Keith Lanning (Becky) of Independence. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m, on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Cresco Cemetery.
