Griffin

Michael Edward Griffin born March 5, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas, was destined for service both to his Lord and to his nation. Honorably serving just over four years in the United States Navy as a Signalman on a resupply ship was a point of passion and pride for Mike, as he liked to be called. After his return home, Mike worked in several fields, still fondly remembering his military service. Mike has been a resident at the nursing facility in Cherryvale for over 10 years with the exception of some care-related stays at a hospital. He was a fixture at his local Veterans of Foreign Wars Burger and Taco nights and enjoyed Bingo both at the VFW and at the nursing home. One of Mike’s great joys was attending the church services provided by rotating pastors at the nursing facility and he liked to dress up for those services. He was also an avid collector of Christian movies and music. We will all fondly remember Mike Griffin, who passed away shortly after his 72nd Birthday. Although there are no listed next of kin, he had several very close friends who were like family members to him. Donations in lieu of flowers or other memorials may be made to the local VFW, Post 1186 in Independence, Kansas. Michael will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2024 at Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. To leave a special message for the friends please visit www. pottsfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Potts Chapel.
