Sonya Carol Muller, age 81, of Independence, KS, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK.

A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Animals With Our Love (AWOL) and sent to Zach Webb Family Funeral Service, 4069 CR 3900 (S. 10th), Independence, KS 67301.

Sonya Muller was born December 15, 1942, in Coffeyville, KS, to John and Faith (Hunt) Mead. She grew up in the Peru and Niotaze area before the family moved to Independence. She graduated from Independence High School in 1960. She married David Good and they moved to California. They later divorced. She married Bryant Cook in Independence and she was a farmer's wife and homemaker for 16 years. In 1982, she married Marvin Muller in Independence. They were married 18 years and he passed away in 2003. Sonya also cleaned houses and worked at Four County for 10 years before retiring in 2014. She had attended the Cathedral of Praise in Independence. She loved flowers, gardening, dogs and cats and living in the country.

Survivors of Sonya Muller include: Three children, Susy (David Hensley) Whitson, Independence, Millie (Robert) Martin, Independence and Phillip (Jessica) Muller, Independence; nine grandchildren, Chris (Misty) Gruber, Steven Whitson, Kelly (Darian) Kelly, Jodie (Kylie) Whitson, Matthew Newman, Nichole Moses, Zachary Moses, Remington and Maverick Muller; four great-grandchildren, Brinlee, Harper, Daxton and Karson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Phyllis McClenning.
