MANHATTAN — For the week ending June 21, there were 5.3 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 10% very short, 29% short, 54% adequate, and 7% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 8% very short, 29% short, 61% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 7% very poor, 16% poor, 33% fair, 38% good, and 6% excellent. Winter wheat coloring was 97%, ahead of 88% last year. Mature was 68%, well ahead of 40% last year. Harvested was 25%, well ahead of 4% last year, and near 24% for the five-year average.

Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 8% poor, 36% fair, 48% good, and 6% excellent. Corn silking was 3%, near 2% last year and 6% average.

Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 28% fair, 62% good, and 6% excellent. Soybeans planted was 95%, ahead of 81% last year and 87% average. Emerged was 86%, well ahead of 61% last year, and ahead of 71% average. Blooming was 1%, equal to average.

Sorghum condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 44% fair, 45% good, and 3% excellent. Sorghum planted was 88%, ahead of 71% last year and 82% average. Headed was 4%, near 1% last year and 2% average.

Cotton condition rated 1% very poor, 7% poor, 44% fair, 44% good, and 4% excellent. Cotton squaring was 12%, ahead of 1% last year and 7% average.

Sunflowers planted was 78%, ahead of 69% last year and 71% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 3% very poor, 13% poor, 34% fair, 47% good, and 3% excellent.
