Gov. Kelly mandates mask use in Kansas

TOPEKA — Thursday morning, Gov. Laura Kelly issued the official Executive Order No. 20-52, which requires most Kansans to wear a mask while in public spaces and places where individuals cannot maintain the social distancing guideline of six feet. The executive order took effect at 12:01 a.m. on July 3 and the governor said it will remain in effect until rescinded or the statewide State of Disaster Emergency expires, whichever happens earlier.

July 4 activities

To help celebrate the Sesquicentennial’s kick-off, the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) is covering the costs for rides on the miniature train, carousel and miniature golf on July 4. Park rides and miniature golf will open at 1 p.m. and remain open until 8:30 p.m. Also, Miss Able’s Snack Shack will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. New this year are their Club Cards. When you spend $5 at the Snack Shack, you receive a free miniature train ride and with $10 spent, you earn a free game of miniature golf that can be redeemed any time this year.

Governor Kelly announces executive orders

TOPEKA – Gov. Laura Kelly today signed Executive Orders No. 20-49, No. 20-50 and No.0-51. Number 20-49 reissues the orders listed below and No. 20-50 updates and extends Executive Order 20-38, which provides temporary relief from certain unemployment insurance requirements during the state of disaster emergency. Executive Order No. 20- 51 extends the term of the 2020 Kansas Complete Count Committee until Nov. 1. Executive Orders No. 20-49 and No. 20-50 will remain in force until Sept. 15, or until the statewide State of Disaster Emergency expires.
