If you have a lost pet and have seen it on the AWOL Facebook page, you are encouraged to call and leave a message or leave a message on the post. AWOL is open by appointment only due to COVID-19. Call 620-331-7931. Many pets are available for adoption at the Animals With Our Love Humane Society Shelter for a fee which include spay or neuter, shots and tags. All the animals at AWOL can be adopted during the operating hours of AWOL, located at 116 S. 23rd Street in Independence. Shelter volunteers are in need of cat litter, bleach, cleaner, and dog treats. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday hours are 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
