IT'S ELECTRIC — The City of Independence and the Independence Farmers Market would like to give a huge shout out to Lori Stockton Johnson, with Evergy, and Wylie Blann, of Howard's Electric, for hooking up the Farmers Market with electrical service in its new location at 8th and Chestnut streets. County commission discusses governor's mask requirement

The face mask debate rages on, even in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Commission met Wednesday morning in special session to approve a resolution in regard to Gov. Laura Kelly's upcoming executive order, which will require most Kansans in a public space to wear a mask, beginning at 12:01 a.m. July 3. The Commission approved a resolution which recommends following the governor's guidelines, including her orders relating to the wearing of masks. Commissioner Larry McManus began by stating the meeting will be a COVID-19 update, the governor's talk and what the county is recommending.
