Frances “Jean” Smading, of Independence passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11:00am at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. A book signing along with a viewing will be available Wednesday and Thursday at Potts Chapel, 10:00am- 3:00pm. Memorials are suggested to the Independence Historical Museum and can be left with the funeral home. Mask will be required and available if needed. Immediately following, family and friends are welcome to join the family at the Concession House at the Riverside Park.

Robert K. Scovel, 89, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Eagle Estates in his hometown of Independence, Kansas. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. July 8 at Webb & Roderick Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church.

CALVIN ANN (OWENS) BURROWS

Calvin Ann (Owens) Burrows was born April 27, 1939 between 7:30 and 8:00 on Highway 33 near Sliver Streak Oklahoma in a 1939 Ford coupe. Her baby book says it all “baby had black hair and eyes, very cute, just as brown as a berry and looked plump.” Calvin Ann, named after her Father Calvin, known as Ann or by most “Neen” continued through life with the same whimsy she arrived.

HORACE RAY HEARN

Horace Ray Hearn, our beloved father, was called to his eternal resting place on Monday, June 29, 2020. He was 91 years old. He entered this world on July 7, 1928, in Witcherville, Arkansas, born to Henry Hardy and Stella (Gross) Hearn. Ray Hearn was raised in the Clark's Chapel community, Arkansas. His mother and father provided a loving home to five children, three of whom are deceased: Lorene, Clarence and Wayne. He is survived by his baby sister, Polly Hamilton.
