First Presbyterian Church members will serve the CUFF Dinner Thursday, May 16, at the Wesley Center, located at 111 East Maple Street, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The meal will be drive thru/walk-up style pick up on the west side of the center. The meal will consist of lasagna, carrot sticks, applesauce, rolls and cookies. Everyone is invited to attend and a free will offering will be accepted.

Spring 2024 graduates at Coffeyville Community College will be treated to a speech by renowned Coach Willie Fritz at their commencement exercises to be held May 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the west gym of Nellis Hall. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Coach Fritz brings a wealth of experience and leadership to inspire and empower the graduating class of 2024.

New Kansas coalition seeks to legalize adult use of cannabis, expunge criminal records

■ Bipartisan organization plans to lean on candidates for state Legislature Leaders of a new politically diverse coalition said Tuesday they were committed to supporting candidates for the Kansas Legislature dedicated to ending the state’s prohibition on recreational cannabis and to expunging criminal records tied to marijuana. Prairie Village City Council member Inga Selders, founder of the Cannabis Justice Coalition, said it was frustrating to observe inertia of elected officials who failed to deliver “fair and equitable” laws and policies recognizing the social, medical and financial benefits of fully legalizing cannabis.
