Class 6A Derby took the top spot with a low score of 313, while the Bulldogs came in second (341), just edging out McPherson in third (342).

After both sides earned Game 1 victories at Chanute on Tuesday, April 30, play in Game 2 had to be suspended due to weather for both the Independence High School softball and baseball teams. KSHSAA officials decided to call the games as completed as each had gone five full innings prior to the stoppage. That was good news for the Lady Bulldogs in a 14-9 win, but the IHS boys were denied a chance to mount a comeback in a 3-2 defeat.

Kansas City Royals veterans Salvador Perez and Seth Lugo received a special honor on Friday afternoon. Both players received monthly awards for their strong start to the 2024 season.
