Bulldogs golf heads to State for fourth straight season

Following a terrific effort by all involved at Regionals in Wellington which resulted in a first place finish as a team earlier this week, Independence High School boys’ golf qualified for the KSHSAA Class 4A State Tournament in McPherson next week. This marks the fourth straight year that all six players will make the trip to the big stage and the Reporter caught up with the Bulldogs at one of their final practices at the Independence Country Club for thoughts on the two-day tourney.

IHS boys’ golf earns fourth straight Regional title at Wellington

■ Small grabs gold once again, all six Bulldogs qualify for State Standout sophomore Ethan Small of the Independence High School boys’ golf team claimed the crown for the sixth time this season and helped lead the Bulldogs to first overall at Regionals in Wellington on Tuesday, May 14. iHS took the top spot with a low score of 314, followed by Circle in second (320), host Wellington in third (324), Winfield in fourth (357), Augusta in fifth (370), Rose Hill in sixth (396), Labette County in seventh (409), Coffeyville in eighth (409) and El Dorado in ninth (424).
