Bulldogs golf takes second in Coffeyville, third at Labette County

■ Sophomore standout Small finishes first at both events Independence High School boys’ golf kicked off a busy slate earlier this week with backto- back Southeast Kansas League tournaments in Coffeyville on Tuesday, April 30 and at Oswego for the Labette County Invitational on Wednesday. At Coffeyville, the Bulldogs secured the silver medal as a team, then brought home the bronze from Oswego.

What had been scheduled for a home-and-home series set to begin last Thursday was changed to a doubleheader, with the Bulldogs holding on for the Game 1 by the final of 9-8 before the second matchup had to be suspended late.
