Bridging Distance in Busy Marriage

Body
Dear Annie: I've been happily married for over 12 years, but lately, I've noticed a growing distance between my husband 'Bryan' and me. He's always been a bit of a workaholic, but it's gotten to the point where even on weekends, he's either at the office or on his phone dealing with work-related issues. We used to enjoy things like hiking and trying new restaurants together, but now it seems like he has no energy or interest. The times I have been able to convince him to do something for fun, it hasn't been fun at all because he's on his phone checking emails the whole time.

Confronting the Past: Facing Old Wounds at High School Reunion

Body
Dear Annie: I have my 20-year high school reunion coming up, and I'm planning to go, as it's a major milestone reunion and we've lost some people over the years. However, I will be running into some issues with it. The biggest issue is that I am in ongoing therapy for sexual assaults that happened in high school back in the early 2000s, and the response from the school officials was quite firmly in the 'boys will be boys, deal with it' era. In other words, they accused me of making up the situation the first time so I never bothered with reporting the second time, especially since both times it was by members of the football team.

The Peck Perspective

Body
The Vetoes Just Keep Coming: The most recent Kelly vetoes are SB 172, the Kansas Land and Military Installation Protection Act and SB 232, legislation requiring all costs be considered when holding deadbeat dads responsible for their children. For more than two years I’ve communicated the need to pass legislation to protect Kansas from having its land gobbled up by America’s adversaries – China, Russia, Iran, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela.

Moore or Less

Body
As a teenager, I loved driving around Independence, a pastime I never outgrew. Douglas will tell you I cannot drive a straight route from point A to B; rather, I say I need to “check things out.” Therefore, I discovered two businesses that deserve kudos for their attractive presence on entry ways to Independence.
